Ingredients
  

Sandwich Ingredients
  • 4 slices bread sourdough, whole wheat, or multigrain
  • 4 slices bacon cooked until crispy
  • 4 oz cheddar cheese sharp, grated or sliced
  • 1 medium apple thinly sliced, Honeycrisp or Fuji
  • 2 tbsp butter for spreading on bread

Equipment

  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Small bowls or plates

Method
 

  1. Cook bacon until crispy and set aside on paper towels.
  2. Thinly slice apple and set aside.
  3. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  4. Layer cheese, bacon, and apple slices between unbuttered sides of the bread.
  5. Heat skillet over medium heat and place sandwich butter-side down. Cook 3–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from skillet, slice diagonally, and serve immediately.

Notes

Optional additions include arugula, caramelized onions, or a smear of Dijon mustard. Serve with tomato soup or a small salad for a complete meal.
