Method
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let foam 5 minutes.
- Add olive oil, garlic, parsley, pepper, and parmesan. Mix well.
- Stir in flour and salt until a dough forms.
- Knead dough 6–8 minutes until smooth.
- Place in oiled bowl and let rise 1 hour.
- Shape into rustic loaf and place on baking sheet.
- Let rise 30 minutes.
- Brush with olive oil, sprinkle parmesan, and score top.
- Bake at 425°F for 20–25 minutes until golden.
Notes
Add a small pan of water in the oven for extra crusty artisan texture. Best served warm.
