Method
- Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Optionally brush chocolate cake cubes with cherry liqueur.
- Layer cake cubes, cherry compote, and whipped cream in trifle bowl, repeating layers and finishing with whipped cream.
- Sprinkle chocolate shavings over the top.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve in trifle bowl or individual glasses.
Notes
Assemble a day ahead for best flavor. Use fresh or frozen cherries for compote.
