Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions if not using oven-ready noodles.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and cook sausage or ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Layer 4 noodles over sauce, then half the ricotta mixture, half the cooked meat, half the spinach, and a layer of mozzarella.
- Repeat layers: noodles, ricotta, meat, spinach, mozzarella. Top with remaining noodles, marinara sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let lasagna rest 10–15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
Lasagna can be assembled a day in advance and baked before serving. Add roasted vegetables for extra flavor. Leftovers reheat well in oven or microwave.
