Ingredients

Beef Patties
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
Special Sauce
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp pickle juice
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Assembly
  • 4 burger buns toasted
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles slices
  • Optional Bacon strips crispy

Equipment

  • Grill or skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Small bowl for sauce

Method

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice, and smoked paprika. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently.
  3. Divide beef into 4 portions and shape into ¾-inch thick patties, making a small indentation in the center.
  4. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side, adding cheddar cheese during the last minute to melt.
  5. Lightly toast burger buns on the grill or in a skillet.
  6. Spread special sauce on top and bottom buns. Layer with lettuce, tomato, pickles, optional bacon, and the cheesy beef patty.
  7. Top with the other bun and serve immediately.

Notes

Make the special sauce a day ahead for deeper flavor. Use high-fat beef for juicier patties.
