Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp almond extract optional
  • 4-6 drops green gel food coloring to desired color
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar for rolling
  • red heart sprinkles for decorating

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
  4. Mix in green gel coloring until desired shade is achieved.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the butter mixture to form soft dough.
  6. Roll dough into balls, coat in powdered sugar, and place on baking sheets.
  7. Add a red heart sprinkle to each cookie.
  8. Bake 9–11 minutes until edges are set. Cool before serving.

Notes

Store cookies in airtight containers at room temperature for up to 5 days. Dough can be frozen for up to 2 months.
