Crispy and Cheesy Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks

Golden and gooey mozzarella sticks made crispy in the air fryer with minimal oil. Perfect appetizer or snack!

Ingredients
  

  • 12 sticks mozzarella string cheese cut in half
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs or panko
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • olive oil spray for coating

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Tongs

Method
 

  1. Freeze mozzarella sticks for at least 1 hour.
  2. Set up breading station with flour, eggs, and seasoned breadcrumbs.
  3. Dip cheese sticks in flour, egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating if desired.
  4. Freeze breaded sticks again for 15–20 minutes.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C).
  6. Spray mozzarella sticks with olive oil and place in basket.
  7. Air fry 6–8 minutes until golden and crispy. Serve with marinara sauce.

Notes

Freezing twice is key to prevent cheese from oozing. Serve immediately for best cheese stretch.
