Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups apples peeled, cored, and chopped
  • oil for frying vegetable or canola
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl.
  2. Whisk milk, eggs, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then fold in chopped apples.
  4. Heat oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil and fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Remove fritters and drain on paper towels or a wire rack.
  7. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm fritters.

Notes

Best served fresh and warm. Store in airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in oven for crispiness.
