Ingredients
  

Taquito Filling
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Monterey Jack
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 8-10 tortillas small flour or corn
  • 1-2 tbsp vegetable oil for brushing if baking

  • Skillet (optional for frying)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine shredded chicken, cheese, cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  3. Warm tortillas slightly to make them pliable.
  4. Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of the filling along one edge of each tortilla and roll tightly.
  5. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  6. Lightly brush with vegetable oil and bake for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  7. Optional: Fry in a skillet with 1/4 inch oil for 2–3 minutes per side for extra crispiness.
  8. Serve hot with salsa, guacamole, sour cream, and lime wedges.

Notes

Taquitos can be prepared ahead and frozen before baking. Bake directly from frozen, adding 5–7 extra minutes.
