Easy Homemade Cheesy Breadsticks

Soft and fluffy cheesy breadsticks brushed with garlic butter, perfect for snacks or sides.

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F / 43°C
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
Cheese
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 tbsp garlic butter for brushing
  • chopped parsley optional garnish

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and melted butter. Mix to form soft dough.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Punch down dough, roll into rectangle ½ inch thick, cut into 1-inch strips.
  6. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan over strips, fold slightly if desired.
  7. Place strips on parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise 20 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake breadsticks 12–15 minutes until golden.
  9. Brush warm breadsticks with garlic butter and garnish with parsley.
  10. Serve warm with preferred dipping sauces.

Notes

For extra crispiness, broil 1–2 minutes at the end. Dough can be prepped ahead in fridge.
