  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.33 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp baking powder
Cookie Layer
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk melted butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until smooth. Spread evenly in pan.
  3. Cream softened butter with brown and white sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over brownie batter and spread gently.
  5. Bake 30–35 minutes until cookie layer is golden and brownies are set. Cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For cleaner slices, refrigerate before cutting. Customize with nuts, caramel swirls, or white chocolate chips.
