Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1/2 cup whole milk warmed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
Filling
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree optional
Icing and Decorations
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • Orange and black food coloring
  • Candy eyes and sprinkles optional

Method
 

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar and let sit 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture. Knead 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional pumpkin puree.
  5. Roll dough into a 16x12 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Spread filling evenly, leaving a small border on one edge.
  7. Roll dough from the long edge and slice into 12 rolls.
  8. Place rolls in greased baking dish, cover, and let rise 30-45 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Mix powdered sugar and milk; divide and color orange and black. Drizzle over warm rolls and add candy eyes or sprinkles.
  11. Serve warm for a festive Halloween breakfast or dessert.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or pumpkin spice. Decorate immediately while warm for best adhesion.
