- Prepare jelly according to package instructions, chill until set, cut into cubes.
- Make custard: heat milk, whisk egg yolks, sugar, cornstarch. Combine and cook until thickened. Add vanilla. Cool slightly.
- Whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Layer in trifle bowl or cups: cake cubes, jelly cubes, custard, fruit, whipped cream. Repeat as desired.

- Chill at least 2 hours before serving.
