Ingredients
  

Gravy Base
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth low sodium
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 0.25 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp soy sauce optional, for deeper color

Method
 

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until foamy.
  2. Add flour and whisk constantly for 2–3 minutes to form a golden roux.
  3. Gradually add beef broth, whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer 4–6 minutes until thickened to desired consistency.
  6. Adjust seasoning, stir in soy sauce if using, and serve warm.

Notes

Use warm broth to avoid lumps. Whisk continuously for a silky-smooth finish. Great for mashed potatoes, steak, or roasted meats.
