Ingredients
  

Cake Base
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Maple Cream Filling
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup pure
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
Optional Topping
  • toasted pecans or walnuts
  • maple syrup drizzle
  • cinnamon or nutmeg dust

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  3. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Alternately mix in dry ingredients and buttermilk until smooth. Pour into pan.
  5. Bake 20–25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  6. Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla, and maple syrup until soft peaks form.
  7. Layer maple cream over cake. Sprinkle nuts, drizzle maple syrup, and dust cinnamon/nutmeg.
  8. Chill 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store refrigerated up to 3 days. Perfect for brunch, dessert, or gift boxes.
