Ingredients
  

Cabbage Buns
  • 1 large green cabbage sliced into 1-inch rounds
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste
Burger Patties
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 egg large
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs optional
Toppings
  • 4 slices cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • tomato slices, red onion, pickles, lettuce as desired
  • burger sauce ketchup, mustard, or aioli

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice cabbage into 1-inch rounds. Brush with olive oil, season with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Bake cabbage slices for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and tender.
  4. Mix ground beef, onion, garlic, Worcestershire, mustard, salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, egg, and breadcrumbs. Shape into 4 patties.
  5. Sear patties in skillet 2–3 minutes per side, then transfer to oven for 8–10 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Top patties with cheese in final minutes of baking until melted.
  7. Assemble burgers with cabbage buns, patties, cheese, toppings, and sauce.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

Use toothpicks to secure burgers. For extra flavor, drizzle with garlic aioli or spicy mayo.
