Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.75 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp red gel food coloring more if needed

Method
 

  1. Preheat waffle iron.
  2. Whisk together all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Whisk together buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla in a separate bowl.
  4. Combine wet and dry mixtures until just combined.
  5. Divide batter into two bowls.
  6. Add red food coloring to one bowl and mix gently.
  7. Spoon alternating dollops of both batters into the waffle iron.
  8. Lightly swirl with a skewer to marble.
  9. Cook until golden and crisp.
  10. Serve with butter, syrup, whipped cream, or cream cheese drizzle.

Notes
