Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp red food coloring
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 tsp salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract and red food coloring.
  4. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients.
  6. Roll dough into balls and place on baking sheet.
  7. Bake 12–14 minutes until set.
  8. Roll warm cookies in powdered sugar, cool, then roll again.

Notes

Roll cookies twice in powdered sugar for a snowy bakery-style finish.
