Cake

  • 4 eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup whole milk warm
Whipped Cream Filling
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream cold
  • 0.25 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Fresh berries optional garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven and prepare cake pans.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat eggs and sugar until thick and pale.
  4. Fold in vanilla extract.
  5. Sift dry ingredients into egg mixture and fold gently.
  6. Warm milk slightly and fold into batter.
  7. Divide batter into pans and bake.
  8. Cool cakes completely.
  9. Whip cream, sugar, and vanilla to stiff peaks.
  10. Layer cake with whipped cream and berries.
  11. Frost top with whipped cream and decorate.

Notes

For extra stability, chill the mixing bowl before whipping cream.
