Ingredients
  

  • 4 waffles frozen or homemade
  • 4 slices cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or brie
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup optional
  • fresh fruit slices optional, strawberries, apples, or pears
  • cinnamon sugar optional garnish

Equipment

  • Skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Knife

Method
 

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread softened butter on one side of each waffle.
  3. Place a waffle butter-side down in the skillet.
  4. Add 1–2 slices of cheese on top. For a sweet variation, layer fruit slices and drizzle with honey or syrup.
  5. Top with another waffle, butter-side up.
  6. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side until waffles are golden and cheese has melted.
  7. Remove from skillet and let rest for 1 minute before slicing in half.
  8. Optional: sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before serving.

Notes

For a dessert-style sandwich, try adding Nutella or caramel drizzle. To keep savory, pair with ham or bacon instead of fruit.
