Ingredients
  

Potato Farls Base
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes about 2 large potatoes, boiled and peeled
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1-2 tbsp milk optional, if needed for dough consistency

Method
 

  1. Peel, chop, and boil potatoes until tender. Drain and mash until smooth.
  2. Combine mashed potatoes, flour, salt, baking soda, and melted butter in a bowl. Mix to form a soft dough. Add milk if needed.
  3. Turn dough onto floured surface. Divide into 2 circles, then cut each circle into 4 wedges.
  4. Heat skillet over medium heat, lightly grease with butter or oil.
  5. Cook farls 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Serve immediately with butter or as part of a traditional Irish breakfast.

Notes

Use starchy potatoes like Russets for fluffiest texture. Leftovers can be reheated in a skillet for crispiness.
